1) What did you learn about how political machines work?
-I learned that you can be given a place to stay and a job if you get on the good side or certain people who are powerful. You also have to do what you're told or else you can be kicked out of your home.
2) What did you learn about the immigrant experience in America?
-I learned that immigrants in America aren't treated well and that it's hard for them to find a job. Also, they have to work really hard to make money so they can find a home and get food.
3) What did you learn about the Oklahoma Land Rush?
-I learned that the Oklahoma Land Rush was where land was being given out for free and people would have to race for the land but only a few would get it.
4) Shannon had some preconceptions about America, which were true and which were not as true?
-Shannon thought that land would be given out much more easily and she didn't think that living in America would be as difficult as it was. It was also much harder to get a job than she expected.
